More about me...About Hitman960posted on Apr 30, 2008 (modified on Apr 30, 2008) I am not sure who this goes to, or just how they will be able to help. But this is my story. I am a roughneck, working hard in the oilfields of northern Alberta. I do make good money normally, but with 3 kids that are young, its normally hard to stay on top of things. I am, right now, on whats called spring breakup. Because the mobile drilling and service rigs are huge pieces of equipment and alberta mud and muskeg is notoriously bad, they shut down all operations. All hands get Employment Insurance benefits til the rigs can get back up and going, some not til September. I normally provide well for my family, so does my fiancee, who is a grocery manager at the local IGA. But what we need very much badly isn't money, its a cosignor for the house we want to buy. But it is a necessity, as we have been renting this house for the past year, and with lack of rentals in this area, if we don't get this house, my fiancee, 3 kids and I have nowhere to go. We had jumped through every hoop that the Real Estate Broker had set before us.... gotten every small bit of paperwork they asked for, no matter how hard it was. Finally, with a loan of $10,000 from a family friend, we were 99% done with the buying process. Then, along came CMHC... They insure the money that the bank lends for a mortgage. The bank told us, after reading all info on us and our credit reports, that we did not need a cosignor. But CMHC comes along after, and says we do in order for them to insure the mortgage money. We were heartbroken, because we don't know anyone financially able to help us. Unless we come up with another $10,000 for the mortgage downpayment, we need a cosignor, no way around it. We need someone who has good credit, decent assets, and a good paying job that they have done for a while. They must also trust in a young couple that holds their place to live and children above all else. We would never miss a payment, ever. In the year we lived here, we have never missed a payment. In 2-3 months, we could apply to have the cosignor removed, once proof of our ability to pay is established. Can someone please help us? ^ top
